PORTLAND, Ore. – A Romanian national has admitted to cyber crimes involving an Oregon state government office and other U.S. victims.

According to court documents, Catalin Dragomir, 45, pleaded guilty to charges of obtaining information from a protected computer and aggravated identity theft. He accessed a computer network of an Oregon state government office without authorization in June 2021, then sold access to it.

Dragomir also sold access to other U.S. computer networks, causing more than $250,000 in losses. He was indicted in May 2024 and arrested in Romania later that year before being extradited to the U.S. in January 2025.

Dragomir could face up to five years in prison for obtaining information from a protected computer and a mandatory two-year sentence for aggravated identity theft. He also agreed to pay full restitution to victims and forfeit cryptocurrency.

The FBI investigated the case, and the Department of Justice, along with international partners, facilitated Dragomir’s arrest and extradition. The sentencing is set for May 26, 2026.
