Sweden vs. Switzerland: The matchup
Switzerland is a narrow betting favorite (-100) to win this matchup and avenge an earlier loss to Sweden (6-4) in the round-robin stage. The Swiss had an opportunity to do that once already in the semifinal round of Olympics playoffs by defeating the United States (7-4) and advancing to the gold medal game. Switzerland has not yet won a Women’s Curling gold medal and hasn’t medaled in the Olympics at all since 2006.
Sweden won its first six games of the round-robin stage before falling into a brief slump with losses in back-to-back contests to Canada (8-6) and Korea (8-3) before closing the stage with a win over China (9-4), then knocking off Canada (6-3) in the semifinals. The Swedes are set to win their seventh all-time Women’s Curling medal at the Olympics and seek their fourth gold.
