President Pavel wished Artem to hug his wife Veronika as soon as possible and return to a full life.
Artem, a marine and sergeant in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, came under mortar fire while carrying out a combat mission near Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast. Due to tourniquet syndrome, doctors were forced to amputate both of his arms.
The tourniquets his unit had received from Czech volunteers saved his life, but 12 hours without medical assistance left no chance of saving his arms.
After the surgery, Artem went through rehabilitation in Lviv. During that time, his commander stayed in contact with Team4Ukraine, who had already been strongly supporting the unit by providing medical equipment, drones, charging stations, and other essential items for the UAV crew.
Quote: “When Team4Ukraine learned about [Artem’s] difficult situation, they immediately began looking for treatment and prosthetic options in the Czech Republic. They consulted prosthetics doctors. Eventually, it was decided that Team4Ukraine together with Dárek pro Putina would help raise funds for bionic prostheses, which will be made in Lviv by our specialists. At the moment, they are truly the best – unfortunately, because they have a great deal of practice. It’s a very complicated case, as the prostheses are expensive and technically complex.”
