February 23 – The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) and Penny Romania have extended their partnership through 2030. The sponsorship has been one of the most enduring in the federation’s history, with the retail giant maintaining its role as the main sponsor for all 20 Romanian national teams.
Since its inception in 2015, the partnership has evolved into focusing on youth development and national performance.
Part of the German REWE Group, Penny is one of Romania’s largest retailers. As of 2026, the network includes 462 stores and more than 7,500 employees. The company was recently recognised as a Top Employer in both Romania and Europe for 2026.
Răzvan Burleanu, president of the FRF, emphasised that the relationship goes far beyond financial backing: “For the FRF, the partnership with Penny means long-term trust and a shared desire to invest in the future of younger generations. We will continue to bring football closer to communities across the country and build a modern, inclusive, and competitive Romanian football scene.”
Under the agreement, Penny remains the primary sponsor of Men’s and Women’s National Teams, and all age-group levels from U15 to U21, Futsal, Beach Football, e-Football, and the national teams for the blind and amputees.
By the conclusion of this deal, the partnership will have spanned 15 years.
Daniel Gross, CEO of PennyRomania, said. “Football unites us. After 10 years of partnership, we have become ‘home’ for Romania’s national teams. This extension to 2030 demonstrates our firm commitment to the sport and the fans.”
