Hi r/politics:

I’m Joe Perticone, national political reporter for The Bulwark, where I cover Congress, party leadership, and the day-to-day power dynamics on Capitol Hill.

Tonight, I’ll be reporting from inside the House chamber for the State of the Union address. I’ll be answering your questions live as the speech unfolds, whether it’s about what’s happening in the room, how members are reacting, the mood on the floor, procedural quirks, or the small behind-the-scenes moments you don’t always catch on TV.

I’ll start answering questions when the address starts around 9pm ET.

Looking forward to it! ASK ME ANYTHING.

What does a typical day of hallway reporting on Capitol Hill actually look like, and how do you decide which members to chase down?

  2. Thank you for being there. We appreciate you.

    Questions:

How is President Trump reacting to the presence of the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein in the House Chamber?

Does President Trump, at any point in the State of The Union speech, appear to be falling asleep?

Which, if any, Congressional Republicans seem distinctly unhappy at moments in the speech?

What, by the end of the State of the Union speech, do you think was the least expected moment?

Does Kristi Noem appear to be in disfavor among the Cabinet or the Congressional Republicans?

How is Stephen Miller reacting to President Trump during the speech?

At what point in the speech was the mood of the room different than you had expected?

When Trump shares his views on the economy, please share as many reactions and responses as you can.

  4. Will you be able to refrain from throwing up during all the lying that is bound to ensue?

But seriously though… do you feel safe and comfortable being the news media given this admins utter disregard for 1st amendment and freedoms of the press?

Why won’t anyone at least make an attempt to simply bully and humiliate Trump? Just relentlessly rudicule him with viciousness exceeding or at least matching his own?

Humiliation is a narcissist’s biggest fear. I’m not talking the “They’re weird!” nonsense, I’m talking cutting right to the guy’s heart with ridicule of his appearance, health, age, lack of masculinity and so on. Just take what we know he’s most insecure about and attack it until he breaks down and cries.

It will work. It always works against wannabe bullies. They’re critically insecure and will malfunction if embarrassed on a large enough scale.
