  1. Good luck with that when they’re effectively embargoed by the massive US military buildup. These probably wouldn’t even arrive by the time the operation begins likely this weekend even if they finalized it today. This is essentially free money for China since they won’t ever have the chance to deliver them.

  2. Canada’s new EV friend

Edit: Just imagine if it was found that Russia was buying weapons from China for use against Ukraine? I wonder if Canada’s EV friendship with China would be this positively looked at by Reddit then? Iran buying from China is fine I suppose

From a risk perspective this is the kind of headline that matters more for regional balance than for immediate drama. When countries start adding more advanced anti ship capabilities, especially in already tense waterways, it raises the cost of miscalculation. Even if nothing happens, the margin for error shrinks. It is similar to two competitors in a market steadily upgrading their tools. At some point it is not about using them, it is about deterrence and signaling. The problem is deterrence only works as long as everyone reads the signals correctly. History shows that assumption does not always hold.

  4. I mean this will be a good capability in a couple years when they finish the deal and years later actually get the missiles and years after that integrate them into the doctrine. Assuming they even survive the next few weeks.

  5. China won’t deliver them till after the current crisis, if they ever do. Their range is less then 170 miles, since they would have to be land based, as it would take months to upgrade ships to carry the launcher. China won’t risk mass oil price increase, it would hurt their fragile economy.

  6. I’m surprised they have to pay. The CCP would love to test one of these out against a real target.

When a carrier with 4.000 sailors are sinking I wonder what the peace president will do.

  8. This will be FAFO on a grand scale. If the Iran government were to use these and hit a ship, it will be nothing short of Armageddon for Iran.

This is why Ukraine is now saying World War 3 has been started. Trump won’t walk back from the attack on Iran, and then China will be pulled in too, with Russia likely providing naval support.

We’re probably in the last weeks of a “normal” world. Things are going to get very very spicy in the coming months

America has developed hypersonic missles, ditched the process and probably has counter measures now

  11. Out of curiosity, why do countries brokering these weaponry deals openly volunteer their dealings?

If a country really wanted war, they wouldn’t say jack.

Best guess is it’s all done to sell more things that hurt and kill people, or the public would never hear of the exchanges.
