MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The Madison Common Council passed a resolution Tuesday evening authorizing the purchase of a service contract to provide mental health checkups and follow-up visits for the Madison Fire Department.
The approval will give MFD’s EMTs and paramedics access to Thin Line Psychological Services, a company whose providers work closely with police, fire and sheriff’s departments.
Madison Fire Chief Chris Carbon said the new service will be in addition to existing services.
Request documents said Thin Line was chosen after an extensive search because of the company’s strong understanding of and experience with first responders.
The funding for the contract will come from the state through Wisconsin’s Funding Assistance Program.
The Common Council also received a presentation from Police Chief John Patterson on the department’s fourth-quarter crime statistics from 2025. A link to his full report can be found here.
