US President Donald Trump highlighted the recent peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, pointing to Washington’s mediation efforts, during his annual State of the Union address to Congress.
Speaking before a joint session of Congress, Trump touched on a wide range of domestic and international issues, including economic performance, national security, border control, and foreign policy priorities. Within that broader context, he referenced developments in the South Caucasus, noting the role played by the United States in facilitating dialogue between Yerevan and Baku.
The address, which lasted approximately one hour and 48 minutes, became the longest State of the Union speech in US history.
Among those in attendance was Armenia’s Ambassador to the United States, Narek Mkrtchyan, who described it as an honour to witness the annual address, in line with the constitutional requirement for the president to periodically inform Congress about the state of the nation.
In addition to policy remarks, Trump used the platform to recognise individuals for their service and achievements, awarding state honours to Olympic champions and members of the armed forces.
The speech also outlined the administration’s ongoing initiatives and future plans across multiple sectors, while emphasising what the president described as key accomplishments in the economy and efforts to curb illegal border crossings.
