Lithuania to transfer 30 RBS missiles to Ukraine for air defense

Lithuania will transfer 30 RBS missiles to Ukraine to strengthen air defenses and protect critical infrastructure, Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas said during a visit to Kyiv.

“Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas informed President Zelenskyy in Kyiv that Lithuania is supplying Ukraine with 30 critically needed RBS missiles, strengthening its air defenses. Lithuania firmly supports Ukraine’s security. Together to victory,” according to the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry’s Telegram channel.

As reported by Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT), Kaunas said after a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy: “To ensure the protection of critical infrastructure, we are transferring 30 RBS missiles to Ukraine. For Ukraine, this is critically needed weaponry right now that will help strengthen air defenses.”

As reported, Kaunas arrived in Ukraine on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion. Meetings took place in the capital with representatives of the Coalition of the Willing and the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) countries, as well as separate talks between Kaunas and President Zelenskyy and Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

During the NB8 meeting, the Lithuanian official emphasized the importance of increasing support for Ukraine to counter Russian strikes on civilian energy infrastructure.

“During the coldest months — January and February 2026 — Lithuania provided maximum support to Ukraine. We transferred 90 generators with a total value of over EUR 2 million. In response to new Russian attacks, we are now also preparing to transfer diesel generators, transformers, electric motors and other energy equipment needed to restore electricity supply and damaged infrastructure,” Kaunas said.
