Murat Jashari, the son of Rifat Jashari, in an exclusive interview with VOX Kosova said that he is not interested in becoming president of Kosovo, even though his name has been discussed in political circles these days, since President Vjosa Osmani’s mandate ends on April 4, while the young man must be elected by March 4 at the latest.

“The parties are expressing their willingness, they are hopeful in this matter. I thank them for trusting us or trusting me for such positions. But I have made it clear to them what the reasons are why I will not do it, because a great burden weighs on my shoulders,” said Jashari.

He emphasized that he would only accept this position in a state of emergency, while adding that he is always ready, if necessary, to sacrifice himself for the country.

“Only in a state of emergency, God forbid, a civil war, a major national danger where the core of our nation and our country is violated, then who am I not to sacrifice myself for this country? So, I am always ready, with all the children that God has blessed me with, to sacrifice myself for this country. But not to misuse the name of the Jashari family for personal positions. The general public must understand these things,” he emphasized.

“Between being in a public position and the profession I have, as well as being part of the family I am, I choose the latter. Political parties, or politics if we translate it into our beautiful Albanian language, are responsible for managing public affairs. So, those who run for office have an obligation, because they receive the trust and taxes of citizens. We are in politics to manage these two things and they must find a solution for this task, because they have the trust and taxes of citizens,” added Jashari.
