German lawmakers approved two orders for attack drones, each worth about €270m, from domestic startups Helsing and Stark Defence as Berlin seeks to strengthen Nato’s eastern flank.

The budget committee in the Bundestag voted yesterday to pass framework agreements with the companies to buy ‘kamikaze’ drones (medium-range loitering munition systems), according to members of the group who asked not to be identified because the deliberations aren’t public.
