Ukraine continues to strengthen the state border with Belarus and to bolster its defensive capabilities in the north.
Spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, explained on air that the priority is fortifying the border strip and strengthening existing positions to reliably counter threats coming from the territory of Belarus.
“This direction is reinforced by various components of the Armed Forces of our country, and there is also strengthening of the border line itself, fortifying the borderlands so that all Ukrainian soldiers, all components of the Armed Forces located in this direction, have every means to counter any threat that may come from the territory of Belarus. And all those over 1,000 km that we share with Belarus, from Volyn to Chernihiv region, this is a continual ramping up of our defensive capabilities”
– Andriy Demchenko
According to the DPSU representative, there is currently no significant movement of equipment or personnel toward Ukraine at the Belarusian border. The situation is under constant control by intelligence and the relevant units of the State Border Guard Service.
Demchenko stressed that the border with Belarus remains one of the strongest and potentially dangerous directions for Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
Context and Next Steps
In the context of these developments, it is important to focus on defense initiatives and cooperation with partners to stabilize the situation on the northern border.
It is also known that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has stressed the importance of not allowing the deployment of joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises along the Ukrainian border.
According to available data, activity of enemy units on the border with Belarus has not been detected, but the situation remains dynamic and under the control of the respective services.
The situation requires ongoing monitoring and continued defensive measures to maintain security in the north.
