A Seminole County gold dealer is accused of being part of a multi-state gold bar scam, according to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office in Texas.Deputies said they are conducting a fraud investigation into the laundering and melting of gold, also known as the “gold bar scam.” The Orlando Gold Refinery in Altamonte Springs allegedly contacted people, often senior citizens, and impersonated law enforcement. Deputies said they would often pressure them to withdraw funds, buy gold and transfer those assets.The sheriff’s office said portions of the gold were later processed, melted, or handled through affiliated businesses.A search warrant is being executed at the Orlando Gold Refinery and at two other jewelry stores in Texas and Georgia. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office will assist in the search warrant execution.
