I have a feeling it’s not so commong for shops in Finland to sell such ready cut, thin slices of beef? Any idea where could I get it in Turku? Or the solution is asking the butcher at the counter to cut it (or cutting it myself at home)?

Asia market in Turku sells those frozen.
Only such cuts i have seen is pork belly.
Rest would either have to be special ordered or cut yourself.
Asian stores or partially freeze the meat at home and slice with a sharp knife.
I think your best best is to find a butcher for this. Campas Meats is one US style butchery I know, you might try your luck there?
Turun Kaupahalli
Difference to bacon?Â
Turun mestaripalvi, can get you a lot of different cuts if you just ask! Theyre very friendly
You could check out Mestaripalvi, they tend to have about anything.
Isn’t there a alanya shop in Turku? I think they have those there
That’s because meat shops in Finland don’t exist anymore. Everything moved to big supermarkets and then you get prepackaged stuff.
In southern Europe you just ask you local butcher to cut you whatever you want how you want it.
Ask a butcher to cut. They might even do that in a good supermarket if its not too busy, or small local shop
Thank you so much for all the reccomendations! I’ll definitely check them out and surely get some of the beef today! BTW that’s the recipe I’m going to make : [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTo98WVTxqQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTo98WVTxqQ) if anyone would like to try as well 🙂
As someone who has lived in Asia and loves Asian food I hate this about Finland. Some asian supermarkets have it in the freezer tho.
Kauppahalli maybe?
You gonna make some pho or what?
Hey! I’m so happy you asked this because I’m looking as well. What I’ve heard elsewhere is that this meat needs to be prepared ahead of time because the slicing machines can only obtain this thinness if the meat is still frozen which often means they can’t do it during opening hours. I have not been brave enough to ask any butcher shop though…
Yeah, Kauppahalli Turku should do the trick. Mestaripalvi also but its pretty far from Turku center
