The international stage is heating up as national teams across Europe prepare for a fresh round of competitive fixtures.
With the Women’s World Cup on the horizon, every call-up and omission takes on added significance.
Clubs are also monitoring how their players perform, knowing international form can impact both development and future opportunities.
For Manchester United, the spotlight falls on one player whose inclusion in Germany’s squad signals a bright trajectory ahead.
Lea Schuller has been named in Germany’s 23-player squad for the first round of qualifying fixtures for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, as announced on their website.
The Manchester United forward will be part of the team that faces Slovenia at the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion in Dresden on Tuesday, 3 March 2026, before travelling to Stavanger to face Norway on Saturday, 7 March 2026.
Head coach Christian Wuck said: “2025 was an eventful year.
“Now we’re focusing on taking the next steps in our development as a side and picking up where we left off in terms of our strong performance on the pitch last year.
“It’s been clear to see that a lot is going in the right direction, but we need to keep working hard to really get to where we want to be.
“That’s exactly what we’re going to do, with the clear goal of making a positive start to our qualifying campaign for the 2027 World Cup.”
Lea Schller, who joined Manchester United in the summer of 2025, has quickly adapted to the Women’s Super League and remains one of the club’s key attacking options.
Her pace, positioning, and finishing ability make her a constant threat, and her performances at club level have clearly impressed Wuck, earning her a spot in the national setup.
The forward has started all 18 of United’s league matches this season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists, demonstrating both consistency and impact in the final third.
Germany’s qualifying campaign also includes clashes against Austria and Norway, both Group A4 rivals, as the squad looks to secure an early advantage on the path to Brazil.
Schuller’s inclusion underlines Manchester United’s growing influence in international women’s football, and the experience gained on this stage will be vital for her development and contribution to the club in the months ahead.
