Boulder Valley School District warned families that students and staff at Broomfield High School may have been exposed to measles.
BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Health officials are warning the public of potential measles exposures after a child in Broomfield was sickened with the disease.
Boulder Valley School District sent a letter to families informing them of a possible measles exposure at Broomfield High School. The letter said students and staff who attended the school on Friday, Feb. 20 and Monday, Feb. 23 may have been exposed to measles.
The letter said anyone who attended school on those days and does not have an up-to-date measles mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine record on file with the school district must stay home until their immunity status can be verified.
According to a news release from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), the child who had measles had not received the MMR vaccine, has no known connection to recent exposures reported in Colorado and has not traveled outside the state. The release said the lack of a clear source of infection suggests that unidentified cases may be occurring or traveling through the area.
