The Latvian men’s national basketball team lost 82:84 to Poland in a tight game in the 2027 World Cup qualifying group in Rīga on Friday, complicating their chances for a successful continuation of the preliminary round.

The home team, after a lively first half, fell behind in the second half, but did not give up and took the lead near the end of the match, but it was not enough for victory as Poland’s never-say-die attitude paid off right at the end of the game, which you can watch in its entirety above.

However, a rematch in Poland awaits on Sunday night, which will be shown live on LTV and here on LSM.

Previously, in the first two games, the Latvians lost to the Netherlands and beat Austria. The Latvian national team will conclude the first group stage with two games in July, away against the Netherlands and at home against Austria. Three of the four teams in the group will advance to the next qualifying round in the battle to earn a ticket to the 2027 World Cup finals in Qatar.
