Disney has now shared an update to Disney Store email subscribers regarding their efforts to create a more fair pin drop experience for online buyers.
We recently reported that Disney wants the online pin-buying experience to be better for shoppers, which is why there are new safeguards and other implementations in place to make it a fairer experience. These include monitoring and account-based requirements for pin-drop days that begin at 8 a.m. PST on Tuesdays.
For example, you may have seen on the pins page that there is a notice at the top indicating that you must be logged in to purchase new drops. Although the website has a queue system in place, users report problems with getting the queue to populate. Others mention being able to get the pin they wanted even through the queue, but the checkout button does not work after adding the items to their cart.
Now, Disney Store has provided an emailed update with the subject line, “Your Pin Purchase Experience.” The email sent to subscribers reads:
Disney Store has seen growing interest in Disney pins over the past year, and we truly appreciate the passion and enthusiasm of the pin community. We’ve also heard your feedback around availability, and we want to reassure you that we’re actively working to make the shopping experience better, and more equitable for Guests.
You may have seen changes with recent pin launches as we have already implemented several safeguards to help protect inventory and promote equitable access during high-demand moments. These include a combination of account-based requirements, enhanced security features, and ongoing monitoring to help manage traffic and reduce misuse.
We continue to evaluate and strengthen these protections, and additional enhancements will be introduced as we refine the experience. Please know that improving fairness and access remains a priority for our teams.
Thank you for your continued feedback and for being part of the Disney pin community.
It is clear that Disney is making an effort for online buyers to experience a smoother and more uninterrupted experience when purchasing pins during the popular Tuesday drops. Through the implementation of these new protections, it will hopefully prevent unfair buying practices at online drops in the future.
