    A search and rescue operation is underway after a man was swept off the rocks at a West Auckland beach.

    Police said the man was fishing at Tāhoro/Union Bay at the northern end of Karekare Beach this morning when he was swept out to sea.

    A search and rescue effort
    involving police, Coastguard and Surf Lifesaving New Zealand was launched, however the man has not been found.
