Foreign minister comments on strikes on Iran, Norwegian flights suspended and Oslo charity struggling to meet demand. Here’s the news from Norway this Monday.
Norway says Israeli strikes on Iran breach international law
Norway’s foreign minister argued that Israel’s strikes on Iran broke international law, calling on Saturday for a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
“The attack is described by Israel as a pre-emptive strike, but it is not in accordance with international law. A pre-emptive attack would require the existence of an imminent threat,” Espen Barth Eide said in an email sent to news agency AFP by his office.
“We call on all parties to show restraint and not to give up on the possibilities of finding diplomatic solutions to the conflict,” he added.
Norwegian suspends flights to and from Dubai until March 4th
Budget carrier Norwegian said Saturday it was cancelling flights to and from Dubai until March 4th following the US-Israeli strikes on Iran that provoked airspace shutdowns in the region.
“We have decided to suspend flights to and from Dubai until at least Wednesday, March 4th and we will then assess if it’s possible to resume flights,” Charlotte Holmbergh, the airline’s head of communications, told AFP.
“Security is our absolute priority.”

Oslo charity forced to reduce services amid supply shortage
Oslo charity Fattighuset in Oslo is being forced to scale back its services because of a lack of food for donations, local media Avisa Oslo reports.
The organisation provides food, clothing and support to disadvantaged residents in the Norwegian capital.
Food distributions by the charity were recently reduced from three to two times weekly and have now been reduced again to once, the newspaper writes.
Previously, the charity distributed food three times a week, then twice. Now it is being reduced to just one day a week, the newspaper reports.
The cutbacks are a result of a shortage of food supplies, according to Avisa Oslo, which writes that around 200 people came to the charity to receive donations last Wednesday.
