Current Security Posture and Situational Awareness (February 28, 2026)

Event:
The U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg is issuing this notice to ensure all American citizens remain informed about the current security environment.
Open-source reporting, including publicly available security assessments from early 2026, suggests increased regional tensions following recent events involving U.S. and Israeli actions in Iran. Current media reports indicate that Iran may view diplomatic facilities, military installations, and other sites associated with Israel, the United States, and Jewish communities worldwide as potential targets for retaliatory measures. We want to emphasize that Luxembourg continues to maintain a stable security environment, and we are not increasing our Embassy security posture currently. We encourage all American citizens to maintain heightened situational awareness and remain alert to sudden changes in the security environment.
Actions to Take:
-Exercise vigilance at festivals and events, places of worship, and locations with large crowds.
-Be aware of your surroundings.
-Have personal security plans.
-Monitor local media for updates.
-If traveling, check U.S. embassy or consulate websites in your destination country for recent security messages.
-Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for all countries you intend to visit: https://step.state.gov/
