For weeks, Vjosa Osmani has been hard at work on social media. Hardly a day passes without her posting a video compilation of her activities as Kosovo’s President at home or abroad.
Her five-year term ends on April 5 and the Kosovo Constitution requires a new President – or a second mandate for Osmani – to be decided at least 30 days before the current incumbent’s mandate ends.
March 5 is the last day when parliament can assemble to vote for a new President but, while the clock is ticking, no new name has been confirmed, even though many have been floated since the new President emerged as the main topic on the political agenda.
