Gold plated weapons being used to shoot down “budget” drones. Talk about asymmetrical warfare.

I’m curious how much the drone cost vs the cost of the (presumably) guided missile used to take it out.

Can’t help but feel a bit patriotic knowing that the drone was potentially going to kill Jordanian civies down there.
Come home safe boys.
Whether the war was necessary or not, it is happening now, and one can hope that it will usher in a period of peace for the middle east and a return to the Iran of old. They deserve it after what they’ve been through.

I’m going to ask a daft theoretical question. .
Would modern propeller light attack plane with machine guns be more suitable for dealing with drones behind front lines?

Just because people are asking for it the price of a Shahed is believed to $48,800 if the lowest estimate is believed
The source for this information is the Pro Ukrainian Prana Network which hacked into the Russian MoD and stole Russia’s technical documents on the Shahed’s which Russia purchased from Iran. Russia estimated that Iran could be producing them for around this price compared to the market price and discount prices which they were quoting to Russia when they bought them off Iran

There was a post recently in a UK sub about the UK investing in cheap anti drone weapons, admittedly, most people were on board but a concerning amount of people thought it was a total waste. Its clear that its needed these days, obviously in this case you need to react with whatever is at hand but the UK definitely needs to develop more low cost anti drone measures, as it won’t be sustainable.

It’s funny.
When the Dutch used an F35 to shoot down a drone the comments were positive.
When we use our F35 the comments are snarky.
How predictable.

Do you realize how much it would cost to duplicate this combat scenario in a training exercise? Many times more than the cost of the one missile used.
This is cheap target practice with Iran supplying the targets.

Laser weapons are the answer to shooting down cheap drones.
Hurry up and weld one to the wing or something.

Am I supposed to bang a pot outside my house on Thursday at 8pm in celebration? Yey we ‘killed’ our first drone. Heroes.

Money well spent there. Round of applause. Tea and medals for everyone involve.

British “fat Amy” ( or a Shazza with a geordie accent) joins the many other nations F35’s in getting drone kills, meanwhile the pride of the US, the F22 still only has a single ballon kill to its name.
