“Safe City”: Speeding, the dominant violation on the roads of North Macedonia

A total of 19,066 traffic violations were registered in North Macedonia during February. These cases were recorded by the “Safe City” project. Last month, there were an average of 706 violations per day, while this month there were 680.

“In the period from 01.02.2026 to 28.02.2026, a total of 19,066 violations were recorded by the “Safe City” system in the areas of cities and corridors where cameras were installed. Out of the total number of recorded offenses, 19,066 violations were recorded,” the North Macedonian Police reported.

The most common misdemeanors are for speeding, so this type of punishment has reached 95 percent of the total number of punishments.

“For passing through a closed signal (red) 220 violations, while for driving a vehicle with an expired license 674 violations,” the Police reported, as well as imposing 653 measures to prohibit driving the vehicle.
