One Macedonia Telecommunications DOOEL, part of the 4iG Group, signed a supply and services agreement with Ericsson at the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona. This agreement will develop the most advanced standalone (SA) 5G mobile network in North Macedonia.

The contract covers the supply of Radio Access Network (RAN) and core network equipment, including all related software, implementation services and long-term technical support.

Under the four-year contract term, from 2026 to 2029, Ericsson will be the exclusive technology partner for the implementation of One Macedonia’s new, independent 5G network, which will include more than 500 5G base stations within 4 years.

Following the investment in acquiring frequencies in January, the agreement accelerates the execution of 4iG Group’s €100 million investment strategy in North Macedonia.

The signing ceremony took place at the Mobile World Congress 2026, the world’s largest event for the telecommunications industry, which highlights the international importance of the project and the role of North Macedonia in the 4iG Group’s regional expansion strategy.

This agreement marks a significant milestone following the preliminary declaration of cooperation last year and officially begins the deployment of a full-scale network in North Macedonia.

One Macedonia will have one of the most modern, independent 5G networks built in the region. As a greenfield investment project, the infrastructure can be designed without legacy constraints, enabling high-speed, latency-free connections, advanced network stability and energy efficiency.

The network architecture will provide a future-ready digital platform for consumers, companies and public institutions. The implementation will be fully compliant with the obligations set out in the frequency license granted to One Macedonia on 23 January 2026.

The license requires 5G coverage in at least one city by March 2027, coverage of major connecting roads by March 2029, full coverage of all cities by March 2031, and nationwide coverage by March 2033.

“Today we move from strategy to implementation. Instead of upgrading an old network, we are building a completely new, secure and future-ready digital foundation in North Macedonia. By partnering with Ericsson, we can ensure that our infrastructure meets the highest European standards of performance, reliability and security. The signing of this agreement at the Mobile World Congress reflects our ambition to position North Macedonia within the global digital ecosystem,” stated Brano Djurovi?, Executive Director of One Macedonia.

Ericsson also emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership.

“Building a standalone 5G network on new ground offers a unique opportunity to shape a resilient, secure and highly scalable 5G infrastructure from day one. We are proud to support One Macedonia and the 4iG Group in deploying a future-ready infrastructure, based on the latest Ericsson technology and global best practices. This network will provide the foundation for advanced digital services, enabling innovation, business growth and improved connectivity across North Macedonia,” said Antonio Passarella, Head of Central Europe and Northern Balkans, Ericsson.

The agreement includes a supply contract with Ericsson AB in Sweden and a service contract with Ericsson Macedonia in Skopje.

This combination of global technological expertise and strong local implementation capabilities ensures unmatched efficiency throughout the implementation process.

This step marks the beginning of the execution phase of One Macedonia’s network development plan, reinforcing its commitment to long-term investments, transparency and regional digital integration.
