President Dan: Romania is under the NATO nuclear umbrella provided by the US; it is protected

Romania, like all NATO countries is under the NATO nuclear umbrella provided by the US, President Nicusor Dan said on Thursday, mentioning that, from this point of view, our country is protected.
‘Firstly, Romania, like all NATO countries is under the NATO nuclear umbrella provided by the US. This is the first thing. Then, as a NATO member state, Romania takes part in the decisions, the programmes with nuclear component made within the Alliance. So, from this point of view, Romania is protected, it is under a nuclear umbrella,’ Nicusor Dan told a joint news conference with his Polish counterpart Karol Nawrocki, when asked about Romania being invited by France to join the extended nuclear umbrella.
He mentioned that our country has a strategic partnership with France. ‘As you know, we have a strategic partnership, which is a partnership on several level. This partnership is expanding and I will stop here,’ Nicusor Dan added.
‘The cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance, with the US guarantees a compatible security framework in Poland and across the Central and Eastern Europe region,’ the Polish president said in his turn. AGERPRES (RO – editing by: Alina Novaceanu ; EN – writing by: Rodica State)
