The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense purchased protective gear against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats, totaling over €323,000.
It is noted that the acquired equipment is planned to be handed over to the country’s medical facilities to bolster readiness for possible emergencies.

The strategic initiative to ensure such equipment increases the readiness of the network of medical facilities, strengthens staff confidence in their own safety, and enables the systematic creation of crisis-resilient medical capabilities tailored to real threats

As part of cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense, they plan to develop the infrastructure of strategically important hospitals, integrate incident-management algorithms, incorporate relevant competencies into training programs for medical professionals, and organize joint training exercises.
Recently, the Lithuanian government approved the updated National Security Strategy, which speaks of an existential threat to the country and to the entire Euro-Atlantic community from Russia.
