According to ERR
In Estonia, a court found the Russian entrepreneur Ivan Anchevsky guilty of violating EU sanctions and sentenced him to three and a half years in prison.
According to investigators, Anchevsky, in collaboration with affiliated structures – the Russian LLC “Melitek” and the Estonia-registered Melitec Europe – organized the supply from Switzerland to Russia of equipment prohibited by EU sanctions.
At the same time, the court partially acquitted him on episodes related to the supply of dual-use goods. Prosecutor Vahur Verte emphasized that if these charges were proven, the punishment could reach ten years in prison.
The decision of the first-instance court has not yet entered into force.
According to the indictment, the supplied equipment could be used for military purposes, in particular for drone control. At the same time, the company denied that the equipment was intended for scientific research.
In the context of the investigation, it was reported that tax and anti-corruption authorities seized the Russian entrepreneur’s assets totaling about 41 million euros at the request of the Kyiv Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
Also in the case materials there are references to other actions related to this case, underscoring the complexity of sanctions enforcement and international cooperation in investigations into violators of EU sanctions.
