US envoy for special missions under Donald Trump, Richard Grenell, reacted on X to the dissolution of Kosovo’s Assembly by President Vjosa Osmani.
Grenell described the development as “great news,” suggesting it could pave the way for the return of former president Hashim Thaçi.
He added that Thaçi should run for prime minister, as Kosovo appears to be heading toward early elections due to the latest political deadlock facing the country.
“Great news. God is preparing all of us for the return of Hashim Thaçi. Thaçi for Prime Minister,” Grenell wrote.
His reaction came after Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani announced on Friday that she had issued a decree dissolving the Assembly and calling for new early elections in the country.
During her address to the media, Osmani said the decision came after lawmakers failed to fulfill their constitutional obligation to elect a president within the required deadline.
