Serbian Assistant Minister of Mining and Energy for Oil and Gas Saša Koković participated in the 12th ministerial meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council in Baku.

He said that, following discussions with SOCAR, Serbia is considering increasing gas deliveries from Azerbaijan to up to 1.4 billion cubic metres (bcm) per year by the time the Niš gas-fired power plant is completed in 2030.

In 2024, the first year of gas cooperation, Serbia received 113.7 million cubic metres (mcm) of gas, and deliveries rose to 253.9 mcm in 2025.

Serbia recently reached an agreement with Azerbaijan on the design, construction and operation of a 500-megawatt (MW) gas-fired power plant, which will produce 350 MW of electricity and 150 MW of heat.

Koković also participated in the Fourth ministerial meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council, where he emphasised Serbia’s interest in deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan in green energy and hydrogen development. He highlighted that Serbia’s goal is to increase the share of renewable energy sources to 45 per cent of total electricity generation by the end of the decade.
