26 Maltese citizens and residence permit holders to the Maltese islands are making their way back to Malta as part of an evacuation operation from Qatar.

These people left Doha, Qatar on Sunday morning for Berlin, Germany, with the intention of getting them to come back to Europe from the Gulf region where it safer and simpler for them to eventually make their way back home to Malta.

The flight left Qatar at around 10:20am local time and is expected to arrive in Berlin in the afternoon, just before 4pm.

This latest operation follows the evacuation of 162 Maltese men and women from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a separate mission that was coordinated by Maltese authorities for Maltese looking to come back to the Maltese islands safely amid the war instability that has recently erupted in the region.
