CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Young social butterflies enjoyed the Monarch and Pollinator Fair in Champaign on Saturday.
The Prairie Group of the Illinois Chapter of the Sierra Club gave kids a chance to learn about butterflies, insects and seeds while also having fun at the McKinley Foundation.

The foundation’s Executive Director, Paula Hancock, said it’s never too early to learn about the part butterflies play in keeping a healthy ecosystem.
“I hope it sparks joy in learning about the environment and our insect friends and it could even encourage people who may became little scientists and environmentalists,” said Hancock. “I think it’s never too early to plant that seed.”
This is the fifth year the Prairie Group of the Illinois Chapter of the Sierra Club is teaching visitors about butterflies and sustainability.
