President Lee Jae Myung advocated on social media for the pursuit of necessary reform in a targeted manner, rather than as blanket retaliation against specific groups.

Lee wrote on X on Monday that solving problems requires identifying their root causes and clearly distinguishing right from wrong.

The president said that while the government must eradicate problems and hold those responsible to account, it should minimize harming unrelated parties in the process.

He said the principle should apply to policy across the board, whether concerning prosecution, the labor sector, the economy, the media or the judiciary.

The statement came as a reply to another X user’s claim that the judiciary had attempted to sabotage Lee in May 2025 in connection with the Supreme Court’s decision to remand his election law violation case to the Seoul High Court.

The president said though there are cases in which the courts politically distort justice, many judges courageously reach decisions based on the law and their conscience in a bid to uphold justice and protect human rights.
