Jenoptik Smart Mobility Solutions has grown its footprint in the Baltic region with the acquisition of an ITS business in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Fima is a long-term partner of Jenoptik, and the two companies have worked over the last 15 years on traffic enforcement and tolling projects together in Latvia and Estonia, as well as Lithuania.
With its Latvian subsidiary, Fima will mainly act as a regional sales, service and project management hub.
The companies’ joint projects have included large spot-speed and red-light enforcement programmes as well as the introduction of the first average speed installations in the Baltics and the implementation of a nationwide e-tolling system based on ANPR technology in Lithuania.
“We will continue the good cooperation in a new organisational set-up,” says Tobias Deubel, head of Jenoptik’s SBU Smart Mobility Solutions.
“We have been working with our new colleagues on the ‘Vision Zero’ initiative closely for years and wholeheartedly welcome them to the Jenoptik family.”
“Our business is global, yet we are grounded in local presence, offering close collaboration and deep understanding of the specific regional requirements and regulations. This important step paves the way for further business in the whole Baltic area.”
Simonas Sidlauskas, MD of the Lithuanian ITS company, says he is looking forward to the future “under the roof of Jenoptik”.
“We are all highly motivated to contribute to the company’s success and safer roads in the Baltics with additional services that we can now offer to our customers.”
