Aleksandr Shpakovsky noted that, given the dynamics of the previous years, this figure is feasible. In 2025, Belarus-Uzbekistan trade turnover totalled around $855m. By the end of 2026, it is realistic to cross $1bn mark.
“The President of Belarus stated that it is reasonable to set ambitious targets to reach $2bn by 2030 at a recent meeting with the Uzbek Ambassador. Given the dynamics of the previous years, trade turnover that we are seeing today, this is a very realistic goal. The number of joint Belarusian-Uzbek enterprises in Uzbekistan is growing. The balance for Belarus is positive, more than 500m. We are interested in increasing imports from Uzbekistan. For its part, Uzbekistan is an intriguing destination that is growing quickly in terms of prestige and tourist flows, for our citizens as well. Therefore, Minsk-Tashkent ties are strong, trusted and based on shared interests and mutual understanding between the leaders of the two states,” he stated.
Promising areas for co-operation between both countries are vast, spanning industries from agriculture to nuclear power. Belarus has moved beyond simply having a nuclear power plant to export its expertise to other countries.
“We have a unique experience of building a nuclear power plant in our territory, a project executed by Russia’s Rosatom company, but one of the terms was that Belarusian enterprises, organisations and our specialists were involved to the full extent both in the construction and further operation. Now, the plant is entirely in our hands. We can export this expertise beyond Belarus,” the expert stressed.
As for the agricultural industry, Belarus is widely known around the world for its advanced agricultural practises, “Belarus’ accomplishment is this area are beyond doubt. Food exports are one of the most significant sources of revenue for the state budget. We rank among the world leaders in a number of areas and are increasing our exports of products for agricultural use every year. Therefore, the technology and techniques our country has in this area without doubt are what friendly states find appealing. And Belarus has a lot to offer.”
