LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Southern Nevada Health District has dropped its plan to raise septic tank permit costs after months of public backlash.
In a special meeting on Wednesday, the Board of Health voted unanimously to withdraw all proposed regulations tied to new septic system fees, keeping existing rules and costs in place for thousands of homeowners.

Residents had warned the changes could force them to pay thousands of dollars to update their systems, saying the added expense would be unaffordable.
Community members continued to show up to voice their concerns during Wednesday’s meeting.
The health district has not announced next steps following the vote.
