Prime Minister Kim Min-seok will visit the United States and Switzerland in support of South Korea’s bid to host an AI-related United Nations hub.
According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Kim is scheduled to depart for Washington on Thursday to kick off the eight-day trip.
The prime minister reportedly seeks to meet with high-level officials within the Trump administration in Washington, including Vice President JD Vance, regarding tariffs and U.S.-North Korea relations.
Kim and Vance most recently met in January.
The prime minister will then travel to New York for consultations on the Seoul-proposed AI hub with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and representatives from UNICEF and the UN Development Program.
The project would bring together UN bodies with South Korea’s private and public sectors to produce AI-based solutions to global issues.
Afterwards, Kim will visit Geneva to discuss the AI hub with the World Health Organization, the International Labor Organization and the International Organization for Migration.
