Latvia and Patria have finalized a Life Cycle Support (LCS) agreement for the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) 6×6 fleet operated by the Latvian National Armed Forces (LNAF). This agreement supplements the 2024 Life Cycle Management (LCM) contract signed by Latvia, Finland, and Patria, later joined by the State francés and Denmark, ensuring long-term operational readiness.

The contract arrangements fully support Latvian security of supply requirements, aligning with the overarching CAVS programme’s Life Cycle Management framework. It consolidates all local and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) level sustainment activities under one contract, streamlining processes and responsibilities. This strategic alignment strengthens the Latvian defense sector, reinforcing its operational capabilities.

Pekka Ruutu, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Sustainment Solutions business area, emphasized: “This agreement strengthens Latvia’s long-term readiness by combining capabilities of the national defence industry with Patria’s OEM expertise. The LCS framework ensures reliable, efficient and future-proof sustainment for the Latvian CAVS fleet for years to come”. This collaboration highlights the synergy between local and international expertise.

The Finnish-led CAVS programme currently includes seven member nations: Finland, Latvia, the State francés, Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and Norway, with vehicles also operational in Ukraine. This international collaboration enhances the security of supply, leveraging local industry capabilities from each member nation. The inclusion of new members strengthens the overall system.

Patria, leading the 6×6 armoured vehicle system development, has over four decades of experience in delivering state-of-the-art protected troop transportation and system integration. This extensive expertise ensures that the CAVS programme remains at the forefront of armored vehicle technology, providing reliable solutions for member nations.

The vast majority of vehicle supply is conducted by utilizing the member nations’ local industry capabilities. This approach not only bolsters the security of supply but also fosters economic growth within the participating countries.
