The brother of singer Darko Lazić, Dragan Lazić, tragically lost his life in a serious traffic accident that occurred on March 11 in the afternoon near Šabac, and residents have now revealed details of the tragedy.
The horrific collision occurred when the driver of a Citroën car, V. K. (62) from Šabac, attempted to turn from the main road into a side alley where his wife’s family home is located.
The driver of the car, V. K. (62) from Šabac, is well known to residents of this area. At the moment of the accident, he was heading toward the alley where his family house is located.
–He wanted to turn into that alley. His house is there, or rather his wife’s family is from here. They don’t live there permanently, but they often come and they have land. They were returning home when the tragedy happened. He is a good man, but well… – said one of the residents.
What gives this tragedy an additional, heartbreaking note is the fact that Dragan Lazić died right next to a small roadside church dedicated to Saint Nikolaj Velimirović.
According to residents, this shrine is very frequently visited, and the most common visitors are bikers who stop there, light candles and pray for a safe journey.
Since Darko Lazić’s brother himself was known as a great motorcycle enthusiast, locals believe that he also often stopped there.
–Fate wanted it so that he literally lost his life across from the church – one of the residents said sadly.
Died on the way to the hospital
After the violent impact, Dragan Lazić fell from the motorcycle and sustained severe bodily injuries. An ambulance team soon arrived and began transport, but Dragan Lazić succumbed to his injuries and died in the ambulance on the way to the General Hospital in Šabac. The driver of the Citroën, V. K., sustained minor injuries in the accident.
According to unofficial information, Dragan Lazić did not possess the appropriate category of driver’s license to operate a motorcycle, but only had a permit for a moped.
