The Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) initiative, Taskforce Drones (TFD), planned on carrying out its next technical trials of unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) in the autumn of 2026, Kai Holtmann, managing director of TFD told

on 2 March.
“This will be the next standardised test campaign within the Taskforce,” Holtmann added.
TFD tested the maturity of attack UASs and counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UASs) in December 2025 at the Hinterrhein shooting range in the canton of Graubünden, according to a 17 December press release from Switzerland’s armasuisse (Federal Office for Defence Procurement). The site had narrow valleys, complex terrain environments, and challenging weather conditions. “We have tricky and difficult terrain in Switzerland – mountainous areas, high altitude, snow. We had a lot of difficulties, for example, with target recognition due to partly patchy backgrounds. Snow, mountain, snow for example. It was cumbersome for camera-based automated flights,” Holtmann said.
Testing
Auterion, Counter Drone Defence Systems (CDDS), and ENS Dynamics were all involved in the testing in December 2025, according to Holtmann.
