South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min-seok has held an unscheduled meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.
Kim said he spoke with Trump for about 20 minutes on Friday local time and discussed issues including North Korea.
The prime minister revealed the meeting during a briefing with South Korean correspondents in Washington.
Kim said much of the conversation focused on Trump asking for his views on North Korea.
The meeting took place after Kim met Pastor Paula White, head of the White House Faith Office.
Kim said White arranged the unexpected meeting with Trump in the Oval Office, where the two spoke without interpreters.
Kim told Trump that President Lee Jae Myung often says Trump is the only leader capable of resolving issues on the Korean Peninsula.
Trump then showed interest in North Korea and asked aides to bring a photo taken with Kim Jong-un in Panmunjom in 2019.
Trump also asked whether the North Korean leader wants dialogue with the United States or with him personally.
Kim said he shared his views and stressed that Trump is the only Western leader who has held talks with Kim Jong-un.
The prime minister said Trump appeared pleased with the remarks and showed strong interest in his ideas on North Korea diplomacy.
Kim declined to reveal the details but said Trump instructed his aides to review several issues related to North Korea.
