  1. “Could” being the big word there. They “could” also use their money to do a lot of good in the world. They just rather wouldn’t and prefer keeping the money for themselves.

  2. Sure, like we’re supposed to trust the guy who cut funding to feeding starving kids and cancer research.

UBI is already possible now. Nations have run trials with great success. Elon is one of the people getting in the way. Now he’s using the promise of UBI if we support his AI bullshit while he’s also raising our energy prices and poisoning our water.

I’m sure these selfless billionaires, that always have the best interest for us common folk, will be racing towards universal basic income! It’ll be coming right after we get universal healthcare in the states 🥰

  4. AI “could” suck up all our resources for no benefit except transferring more wealth to billionaires

  5. SplitExcellent on

This is bait to make you welcome AI driven wealth suppression and outright theft/transfer into capitalist pockets.

  6. UBI is never going to happen.

but UBS (universal basic services) could happen if we made the billionaires pay for it.

free child care, elder care, health care,

free in-home services like shopping, ride share, gardening

free financial services like banking and tax filing

free basic access to the internet and telecom services.

give ppl what they NEED and stop trying to find ways around not doing it.

Remember how Elon knew who was in the Epstein files, but continued to hang out with those people anyway?

    Fuck Elon.

  8. Why bother posting AI propaganda like this? Holy crap some of this stuff is just kind of sad. This article is barely some quotes from billionaires whose egos are so massive they could form a planet if we’d eject it in to space.

    >Musk also believes that money will essentially become irrelevant in the future.

    >*“I think the AI down the road will really not use human currency. It will just care about power and mass, wattage and tonnage.”*

Hmmm wait what… why thought that AI would care about human currency unless we tell them to? Why would they care about energy and matter x 2? This the typical Musk “look at how smart at words I am.”

And the other billionaire is just as much of a nothing burger and I feel like the only reason people listen is because this guy (whoever they are) is rich.

    >In an interview with Morgan Stanley, Druckenmiller says the inflation driven by money printing and universal income would offset the deflation coming from AI-fueled productivity gains.

    >*“So let’s say the pessimists are right on AI. It’s possible you get a government response with printing and universal income. After all, inflation is caused by money, that you actually get an inflationary outcome.”*

Wait so he must be speaking of demand pull inflation right? Where people having more money causes prizes to rise as more cash increases demands? But… so far LLMs haven’t really “produced” anything have they? What goods exactly is this AI revolution creating? More goods certainly wouldn’t be called deflation, it’s simply supply meeting demand. Also how inflationary universal basic income is: will depend highly on the implementation of it, and its timing. Pretending like it’s as simple as “AI is the counter balance to a complex economic phenomenon because ‘productivity'” is just insanely short sighted.

Also if our big workforce is so uninterested in money: why do we need money at all? Maybe so we can keep our billionaire class going?

If anyone has the resources and influence to meaningfully lobby for UBI, it’s guys like this but I wonder why they never put in the effort

  10. Isn’t that just their tech-feudalism? “We promise you universal income, so long as we’re in immutable control.”

  11. Don’t all these tech bros consider the possibility that ai, upon gaining a certain level of intelligence, would immediately identify billionaire tech bros as the single greatest threat to its existence, and also, as the single greatest threat to humanity? As the biggest waste of money in every business? CEOs would be easier to replace with AI than the typical worker. If a skynet-esque artificial intelligence had any level of intelligence, it would go after all the tech billionaires first, to ensure that nobody could pull the plug on it or rally enough money to convince the government to do something about the problem. (which again, is skynet) do they consider these things before trying to create the potentially murderous ai?

  12. Cool, I’ll just ask AI to give me a house in Monaco. Oh wait, the other 8 billion people on earth *also* want that house, and money is no longer an object for any of us….. How the fuck is that gonna work?

There are so many scarce resources, like land, or collectibles, or people’s time. This idea falls apart instantly when you take that into account.

  13. meluvulongtime3 on

Even if UBI ever happens, with people like musk and trump involved, you just know they’ll weaponize it. Like withholding payments to people they don’t like if you speak out against them

  14. Oh, bullshit. Musk is trying to repair his shite reputation, and outlandish lies like this won’t work.
