I thought he’d wait for the war to be over to negotiate like that: “stop the war = you keep your oil”. But it seems it’s happening way earlier (it’s still not destroyed, only military sites it seems). It’s not a card he’ll be able to use forever, or it’ll probably not work. The biggest risk of course is that iranians will have nothing to lose if the oil is destroyed, stopping the war could be much more difficult after that.

The US are sending an amphibious force and several thousand marines likely in a bid to seize the island. This island is important for Iran. Iran will retaliate. Those marines will likely be sitting ducks even if the island is occupied. The war doesn’t seem close to ending that’s for sure.
