The penalty doesn’t deter people as it’s so rarely enforced, I know let’s increase the penalty! Is this the logic?

Something this difficult to police 24/7 should have extremely dear consequences if caught for both who the rubbish was originally and especially the perpetrator.

  3. Brilliant. Now lets do water company bosses dumping sewage in rivers illegally going to jail to reflect the significance of their actions

  4. Pointless. They’ll just say they need their driving license for their job (which is fly tipping) and be allowed to keep accruing points beyond 12…

  5. I hate fly tipping as much as anyone, but increasingly restricting access to the recycling centers is not helping.

This seems very heavy handed considering how bad councils are at actually getting the right person. Just the other day someone ended up getting fined for fly tipping after someone stole their amazon parcel and then threw away the empty box in a local park.

  7. Fly-tipping is the single stupidest crime I’ll never understand… Pretty much all councils offer free recycling of anything at all, my council runs at least 6 recycling centres that I know of and if you can’t be arsed driving there, they’ll collect rubbish from you for pocket change, last I had to use it was <£20 to dispose of a bunch of old furniture.

Good. Drivers need to be held accountable for this. Getting fed up with the many crimes committed by them going unpunished.

If someone is fly tipping, do they really think points on their driving licence is going to stop them ?

Confiscate the vehicle they used and completely remove their licence for at least 3 years.

IIRC courts can already do this if a vehicle is involved so not sure what is new here?
