The Pilgrimage of Our Lady of Agony, Viana do Castelo, maintains its recognition as a Project of Cultural Interest, which reinforces the historical, religious and heritage value of the festival and allows the event to be included in the Cultural Patronage regime.

According to a note sent to newsrooms today, VianaFestas, the entity that organises the pilgrimage, explains that “the recognition was granted by the Ministry of Culture under the Tax Benefits Statute, with a favourable opinion from the competent services, allowing companies and citizens to support the project through donations with tax benefits.”

“This framework makes it possible for the support granted to be considered costs within the scope of Corporate Income Tax (IRC), and can be recognised as expenses or losses of the fiscal year up to a limit of 8% of the volume of sales or services provided, in an amount corresponding to 130% of the amount allocated, among other incentives provided for in the legislation,” says VianaFestas.
