Reading the article i imagine social media posts and calling people inbreds probably didnt help.
Based on the article its not that he refused to sell Halal, its that he was actively anti-Halal and promotes it (as well as alleged anti-muslim sentiments) on social media. He then described the people complaining as “inbreds” and tried to pick a fight with the protestors, forcing the police to arrest him. He also seems to have a history of picking these sort of politically charged fights, describing himself as an activist.
Of course that doesn’t mean he should be harassed or forced to close his restaurant, but it is a lot more complicated than just refusing to sell Halal as the headline suggests.

Wouldn’t this be simply resolved by having a bold sign with an assortment of pork, bacon and ham products?

I’ve actually tried to book a table at this restaurant before and the owner’s behaviour is why it’s literally the only restaurant in Hammersmith me and my friend said we’d never go to. He’s a prize knob in general. The whole supporting the far-right thing just goes with it.
Wild to see people sounding off about halal food without reading anything to do with this, because this isn’t a bloke you want to be supporting. The guy tweeted “Proudly don’t serve halal meat. We don’t cater to inbreds”.

He hasn’t served halal at his restaurant for over 5 years and everything was fine, it’s the rhetoric he’s using against Muslims that is causing people to protest.
There’s quite a few videos of sikh podcasts blasting this guy too. It’s not that not selling anti halal but he’s quite inflammatory in his statements too.
No one is organising marches against the hundreds of thousands of non halal restaurants but when you want to antagonise and cause issues, don’t be surprised if issues come home to roost
Around 70-85% of halal meat in the UK is stunned before slaughter, the only thing that tends to be different is a prayer is said before hand.
Kosher meat by comparison is very different, there is no stunning involved.
Realistically for meat eaters, Halal isn’t really a problem because the meat is prepared in the same way in the vast majority of cases (presuming you don’t care about prayers). If your argument is anima welfare you’d be better off refusing to serve Kosher meat….

I don’t like spicy foods. Too spicy condiments take the food taste away. I’m not vegan too. If someone likes spicy food, they should go to another restaurant.
At the end of the day, something being anti-Halal shouldn’t just be allowed it should be celebrated.
Halal is a major market, but it’s not a British culture market, so it’s a change we have made to embrace the modern world, and that has to go both ways.
It shouldn’t have to be just a Sikh saying no, anyone should.
All of this could be avoided if DEFRA decided on which is the one most ‘humane’ process of slaughter across each animal group and the government banned all other methods of killing.
It’s ridiculous in this day and age that anything other than animal welfare should come into the equation.
