Submission Statement: Donald Trump has upended US-China relations two weeks before a critical summit with Xi Jinping in Beijing by saying he might delay his first visit to the country in nine years as he grapples with the Iran war. In the interview, Trump said China should help because the vast majority of its oil imports pass through the Strait of Hormuz. He suggested that waiting until the summit for an answer from Beijing might be too long. Chinese state media ridiculed Trump’s request for help. “Is this really about ‘sharing responsibility’ — or is it about sharing the risk of a war that Washington started and can’t finish?” the Communist party’s nationalist tabloid Global Times said.

Oh, so China don’t think it’s important to them. Just strike the Kerg island then so Iran close the strait for good. Let’s see then.

Quick fact: that is untrue. China imported oils from a lot of countries like Russia, Norway, even Nigeria. Losing Hormuz will hurt China, of course, but for these countries that did not buy oils from Russia, they would suffer more, and China is more than happy to take the chance that could make her major enemies like US and Japan suffer a lot harder than herself.
Just think, people, think. If the strait is really THAT important to China, you would see Chinese navy warships there for a very long time. China has conducted around 18 years of escort missions in Gulf of Aden; if China wishes, it can dispatch PLAN warships over Hormuz days ago. But they did not.
It would be void for US to threaten China of canceling Trump’s visit to China. China never officially confirmed this visit; it is WH that keeps saying POTUS will visit China. No one in China is hoping anything could reach agreements in Trump’s visit, especially at this very moment that mid-term election is very indeterministic. What if GOP loses senate or house? What if GOP loses senate AND house? Remember, China hates any indeterministic things in politics; if there’s no guarantee that Trump will still control Capitol Hill at the end of 2026, China would rather watch and wait: if Trump/GOP/MAGA could win the election, alright, they still have two years, and it is more feasible and meaningful to work with. If they don’t, well, just watch how DEM and GOP will fight in EVERY bill, appropriation, funding and auditing in next 24 months.
