    I disagree with the title.

His polling #s dropped at the end of 2025 and wasnt till Davos that they got better.

The last month or so hes skyrocketed while Pierre and co have fallen off.

It’s impressive as he’s really done next to nothing domestically, housing is still untouched, food insecurity is still high, child poverty is still high, food inflation is still the worst in the G7 by a decent margin, unemployment is still high while he also increases TFW numbers. Carney has been great at talking to wealthy elites and other leaders and really quite poor at actually fixing domestic issues. It will be interesting to see how long people will ignore the domestic stuff that was eventually the downfall of Trudeau

  3. Cos you know – he is a competent leader !

Its not simply honeymoon when more than half the country is in approval of your actions. A year in on a minority.

its more of good governance being acknowledged

    Is Careny perfect? No.

Is he going to maintain and entrench the  neoliberal order? Yes.

Does it seem like he’s doing the best he can do within the constraints of neoliberalism? Yes.

Is it possible that Canada could elect a non-neolib? No.

Given that our range of leaders are restricted to those who embrace a neoliberal vision, is there anyone who we might expect could do the PM job right now better than Carney? No.

Is the official opposition leader severely unlikable and wildly out-of-his-depth? Yes.

  5. At this point, it’s not the “honeymoon” that he’s enjoying, but a reflection of doing his job and why he was elected!

  6. Honestly, I believe he is doing so well because his last name isn’t Trudeau. One year out from his departure, it’s clear a lot of the anger directed at the Liberals was because of the amplified hatred of Trudeau. Had Carney been in charge from 2015-2024, I don’t think the Liberals would have dropped as much in polling.

  7. Even though I’m not his fan and prefer the NDP I won’t call this a honeymoon period at this point. I’ll admit enough people just like him and are thankful that he is making politics boring again. I disagree with him ideologically but I’m thankful for boring politics.

Like people are pointing out, it seems like less of a honeymoon and more of a “doing a job Canadians are happy with while facing no serious opposition….moon”.

I don’t see why these numbers don’t continue for a while either. The Conservatives don’t seem to have any idea how to connect with Canadians, and CPC supporters are still doing stuff like trying to connect this administration with Trudeau.

It’s possible the media bubble that made their base so resilient has started to cost them the ability to understand regular Canadians.
