In recent days, the Sun’s activity has increased, and a stream of charged particles — the so-called solar wind — has reached Earth. It intensified due to a coronal hole — an area on the Sun’s surface from which streams erupt faster than usual.
As a result, a G2-level geomagnetic storm is observed on Earth, through which the Northern Lights can be seen in more southern regions than usual. It has already been caught near Minsk.
It will be problematic to see the aurora in urban conditions. The highest probability of catching the rare phenomenon will be in an open space with a good view to the north, away from city lights.
