The Constitutional Court has rejected all 26 petitions challenging court rulings on constitutional grounds in the first preliminary review since the new system took effect on March 12.

The Constitutional Court made the announcement on Tuesday explaining that a total of 153 petitions had been submitted as of the previous day.

Of that total, no cases have so far passed the preliminary review and been referred to the full bench.

When a case is filed with the Constitutional Court, a designated panel of judges holds a preliminary review to determine whether the case meets legal requirements.

If the petition is found to be unlawful, the panel dismisses it without pursuing a merit-based review.

Seventeen cases were thrown out for failing to meet the grounds for the petition while five were rejected for failing to meet the deadline for filing.
